MTT consisting of 5 PSOTC members (LTC Ismet Kadić – team leader,LTC Phil Osment, LTC Kosta Jano, 2LT Amra Berberović, and SFC Nura Mulavdić) is conducting Gender and Building Integrity in PSO – Orientation module to members of different institution of the Republic of Albania. 27 participants from all three branches of the Albanian Armed Forces from ranks of sergeant all through LtC, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Well Being and Youth, Ministry of Defense, as well as from OSCE and UN Woman are attending the course. Important fact is that more than 60% of participants are females. The course is being held in the Albanian Armed Forces TRADOC in Tirana from 20th to 24th October 2014. On behalf of the Albanian Armed Forces, Col Idriz Haxija, the Defense Academy Commander addressed the course participants in the opening ceremony giving the focus on gender equality and gender representation in armed forces as well as involvement of gender equality in decision making process regarding efficient conduct of PSO. He used this opportunity to emphasize fruitful mutual cooperation in the field of training and education between the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and PSOTC as its part and the Albanian Armed Forces. The course aim is to increase awareness and provide a conceptual understanding of gender issues in the security sector. It has a particular focus on Peace Support Operations (PSO) and how successful missions need to communicate with women in society they are tasked to protect and thus how it is essential that female soldiers, police officers, and civilian staff are involved in planning and conduct of operations. Also, the course aim is to comprehend institutional changes, challenges and impacts of corruption on NATO"IOs"NGOs and to understand importance of gender and anti-corruption efforts in PSO.
