The Counterinsurgency Orientation Course (COIN) is an interesting academic program that is aimed to expand understanding of counterinsurgency operations. Our goal was to set a counterinsurgency mindset that students will be able to apply if deployed in counterinsurgency environment. This mindset will help them to lead the soldiers but also to incorporate COIN ideas in training and prepare others to comprehend COIN doctrine. A huge advantage of this particular course was a diverse participation on the course: 16 students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Croatia, Montenegro, Egypt, Kuwait, UAE, and Azerbaijan who successfully completed the course. Special thanks go to guest lecturers, Mr James Wither, professor of national security studies at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, and instructors from Maryland National Guard (MDNG), MSG Gary Brown and SFC Noah Gentilin who, besides PSOTC staff, gave a huge contribution to the quality of the course and shared their COIN experiences with PSOTC students. The Closing ceremony of the course was magnified by the presence of the PSOTC Commandant, Colonel Edin Bajramović, and Mr. Ramy ElMobayed, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
