On 5 December 2025, the Peace Support Operations Training Centre (PSOTC) of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted the closing ceremony of the Euro-Atlantic Security Course (EASC) 2025, marking the successful completion of a week-long program aimed at strengthening understanding of contemporary security challenges in the Euro-Atlantic region.
This year’s course brought together 20 participants from armed forces, state institutions, international organizations, and academic faculties. Delivered in partnership with the Faculty of Political Science, University of Sarajevo, the course featured contributions from leading institutions, including the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, the OSCE Mission to BiH, the Austrian National Defence Academy, the U.S. Office of Defense Cooperation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology, and Security Studies at the University of Sarajevo, and other national and international partners.
The EASC equips participants with knowledge and skills to develop comprehensive, interoperable solutions for security cooperation within the Euro-Atlantic region. Through interactive sessions and expert-led discussions, participants explored strategies for addressing emerging threats and enhancing regional stability.
Brigadier General Matthew Valas, NATO HQ Sarajevo Commander, addressed the participants during the closing ceremony, emphasizing the continuous evolution of security challenges in the Euro-Atlantic region. He highlighted the importance of networking and collaboration, noting that the friendships and professional connections established during the course will play a crucial role in future cooperation among nations and institutions.
Colonel Damir Alibašić, PSOTC Commandant, underscored the significance of the Euro-Atlantic Security Course, noting that it provides a comprehensive understanding of geopolitical dynamics in the Euro-Atlantic region, with a focus on key stakeholders, emerging threats, and contemporary security issues. He emphasized the role of NATO, the EU, and the OSCE in shaping regional security frameworks and encouraged participants to apply their knowledge to develop interoperable solutions for future cooperation. Colonel Alibašić expressed sincere gratitude to partner institutions and PSOTC staff for their dedication and thanked participants for their active engagement, stressing that their contributions enriched the course and will help refine future iterations.
