The conference has been discussing the theme: ‘The Future of Peacekeeping Training: Challenges, Best Practices and Innovation’. The conference was attended by more than 200 international members of IAPTC, from 56 countries and 131 organizations and institutions involved in the training process and the execution of peace support operations. The conference was opened with welcome remarks by Mr Safet Softić, president of the House of people Parliamentary Assembly of BiH who said:” It is a great honor for Bosnia and Herzegovina to host this important conference and demonstrate its progress from being consumer of international security to becoming an active subject in the peace building in the World through participation in peace support operations.” The participants were welcomed by Mr. Mijo Krešić, Deputy Minister of Security of BiH, who highlighted the participation of police officials of Bosnia and Herzegovina in peace support operations around the World and expressed special thanks to the Peace Support Operations Training Centre of the Armed Forces BiH, which provides the necessary training for participants in peace support operations. Mrs Marina Pendeš, Minister of Defence of BiH, had also welcome remark on opening ceremony. She stressed out: “Bosnia and Herzegovina is completely equal with its partners involved in contributing to collective security in the World. By participating in UN and NATO peace support operations, BiH is aiming at its strategic objective – Euro-Atlantic integrations." On media conference, organized after oppening ceremony statemente were given by Mrs Marina Pendeš followed by Mr Mijo Krešić, LTC Glaucio Lucas Alves President of the Executive Committee of IAPTC and Colonel Dr. Jasmin Čajić, Commandant of Peace Support Operations Training Centre (PSOTC). LTC Glaucio Lucas Alves expressed his gratitude and praise for the organization of the conference in Sarajevo, which need a lot of effort in the preparation period. Colonel Čajić in his address stressed the great honor and responsibility for organizing this conference as well as taking the role of President of the Executive Committee 23. IAPTC Annual Conference, in Egypt next year. Official handover of the role of President of the Executive Committee will take place at the closing ceremony of the conference on 29 September 2016. The 22nd IAPTC Annual Conference is IAPTC’s central event and the most significant activity for MoD BiH and BiH in 2016. The main focus of the conference is exchanging of experiences and establishing unified PSO Worldwide.
