The Peace Support Operations Training Centre (PSOTC) of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AF BiH) successfully conducted the Building Integrity in Peace Support Operations Course (BIPSOC) from 12 to 16 October 2026, bringing together 27 military personnel from 13 countries, including five members of AF BiH. The strong multinational participation highlights the growing importance of integrity, transparency, and accountability in contemporary military operations.
Throughout the five-day programme, participants engaged in a combination of expert-led lectures, facilitated discussions, and collaborative learning activities focused on strengthening integrity and addressing corruption-related challenges in multinational operational environments. The course aimed to enhance participants' understanding of how corruption can undermine operational effectiveness, public trust, and mission legitimacy, while providing practical tools and approaches for identifying and mitigating integrity-related risks.
Participants explored the fundamental principles of Building Integrity, examined international anti-corruption frameworks, and reviewed NATO's efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance across operations and missions. Particular attention was given to the relationship between ethical leadership, personal conduct, institutional accountability, and mission success in peace support operations.
Through scenario-based activities and interactive discussions, participants analysed integrity challenges commonly encountered in multinational deployments and exchanged experiences, lessons learned, and best practices from their respective countries and organizations. The diversity of participants' backgrounds contributed to a dynamic learning environment, fostering professional dialogue and strengthening international cooperation.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Major Ivan Džepina, Acting Chief of Staff of PSOTC, congratulated participants on successfully completing the course and acknowledged their active engagement throughout the programme.
The successful delivery of BIPSOC demonstrates PSOTC's continued commitment to supporting professional military education and training initiatives that promote integrity, transparency, and accountability within defence and security institutions. By bringing together military professionals from across the international community, the course contributes to strengthening ethical leadership, institutional resilience, and operational effectiveness in support of international peace and security.
As security environments continue to evolve, fostering a culture of integrity remains essential for maintaining public confidence, enhancing organizational effectiveness, and ensuring the successful conduct of multinational peace support operations.
